Job Summary
As a Remote Sensing Specialist you will be responsible for ensuring the on-orbit performance and calibration of remote sensing data that will be generated on upcoming visible, infrared imaging missions.
 

Job responsibilities include:

  • Review of sensor data collected during payload and space vehicle testing prior to launch
  • Verification of sensor performance against requirements
  • Planning for on-orbit initiation, focus, calibration, geolocation, and optimization tuning of sensors
  • Support launch and early operations activities to initiate, focus, calibration, geolocate, and generally optimize performance via analysis of sensor data
  • Evaluate on-orbit performance of sensor data
  • Trend performance over time
  • Identify anomalous sensor behavior, and support anomaly resolution
  • Supporting proposal development for future missions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in physics, optics, electronics, computer science with an established specialization in remote sensing or imaging science
  • Experience with image quality assessment, radiometric calibration, geolocation, and remote sensing data analysis
  • Skilled at using and developing new software for the analysis of remote sensor data sets
  • Proficient at presentation, writing, and communicating
  • 4 years direct experience working spaceborne remote sensing data sets
  • Experience with the application of remote sensing data
