Job Summary
The Demand Planner is a new opportunity with Millennium Space Systems supply chain and will help to establish and develop demand planning processes for the company. The primary role of the demand planner is to capture demand being flowed down through the company IMS and programs to the manufacturing teams and ensuring that the demand is in a format that makes sense, easy to understand and is actionable. The demand planner will collaborate and partner with Business Development, Contracts, Programs, Program Controls, CAMS, Operations Research, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to ensure that the level of communication is robust and effective so that misinterpretation of that data is highly mitigated. This role is highly visible throughout the company and this person will lead the generation of large scale and complex plans that are presented to senior leaders, executives, and teams that execute the work.
This position's internal job code is Materials Mgmt. Analyst .Our team is currently hiring for level 3 or 4.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and improve demand planning models (firm + forecast) to provide an accurate demand plan
- Interface with finance, business development, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to understand demand requirements and analyze impacts to the supply and production plan
- Lead monthly demand meetings with programs, manufacturing, and supply chain to review demand and adjust
- Apply statistics in coordination with Operations Research in analyzing data trends to improve forecast accuracy by commodity group
- Collaborate with Business Development to capture proposal needs and build into demand forecasting tool
- Effectively communicate between internal and external teams on demand and forecasting changes
- Develop unconstrained demand plans at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function.
- Utilizes a collaborative and consensus demand management approach by working with Business Development, Program Managers, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
- Identifies variance between various plans and provide recommendations to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
- Interpret the demand signals generated by MRP reservations and MO’s being generated per program needs.
- Ability to understand and communicate the relationship between the demand that exists outside of Costpoint and the demand that exists within Costpoint.
- Acquire the knowledge and be savvy enough to reconcile the mismatches between external and internal demand signals.
- Ensure that such signals are loaded into Costpoint and serve as a valid reference point for the manufacturing teams, specifically the material planning team.
- Lead conversations and encourage a healthy balanced level of communication teams in understanding with engineering and program teams about the demand cycle
- Establish an actionable baseline of how demand is communicated to all manufacturing teams
- Understand the entire production-to-customer system, processes, and capabilities that may influence build targets and the production schedule
- Coordinate efforts to align relevant parties of upcoming schedule, configuration or hardware allocations changes and make sure our systems accurately signal these changes to all teams
- Maintain and regularly update the master schedule with the Master Scheduler to align with the latest build plan and configurations as agreed to by the relevant business stakeholders
- Collate, report, and vet forecasts from the supply-base to ensure they meet our top-level goals
- Champion continuous improvement projects using appropriate metrics and data sources
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or 5 years of demand planning, material planning, or master scheduling experience in lieu of a degree.
- Knowledgeable on the logic of how complex ERP and MRP systems function relative to demand and demand management
- Must have demand planning, material planning, SIOP/IBP planning, and/or forecasting experience.
- Exceptional analytical skills; Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Excel is required (including pivot tables and formulas; advanced macros a plus).
- Ability to provide data and assumptions to assist with complex scenarios.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in forecasting processes and demand analysis methodology preferred.
- Experience in Deltek CostPoint, but not required.
- Skills in VBA, SQL, Python, R, preferred.
- Proficient with ETL processes, report development, and business intelligence design within PowerBI.
- Experience in consumer goods, aerospace, automotive, or pharmaceuticals.
Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only of what is reasonably expected to be paid for the position. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay-Range
Level 3: $81,600 - $120,000
Level 4: $98,600 - $145,000
