Senior Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer

Job Overview
As a Senior Spacecraft Structures Engineer, you will be responsible for helping lead the mechanical and structural elements of our satellites. Your designs and analyses will ensure that our space vehicles survive their complete development and operational lifecycles, including test, transport, launch, initialization and long-term operations.


  • Train, mentor, and motivate engineers. Work with team and company to provide opportunities to achieve their career goals
  • Provide consistent feedback to engineers and write formal annual feedback session comments
  • Promote knowledge sharing and improve/create processes to set the team up for growth
  • Provide resolution guidance for issues or potential issues (technical and personal) within the team and with other teams
  • Confer and communicate regularly with programs and management 
  • Manage and prioritize the workflow by allocating personnel to accomplish technical tasks.
  • Project new work based on the team capability. Hire or subcontract to perform work beyond the capability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Familiarity with commercial space, satellite hardware, and structural design and analyses.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including customer technical liaison for TIMs and Design Reviews

  • Demonstrated ability to organize, motivate, and lead groups of engineering personnel

  • Strong technical skill in stress and dynamics for satellite assemblies in launch and orbital environments, including FEM computer methods using standard analytical tools and classical structural analysis methods

  • A total of 10+ years technical experience in the design and analysis of aerospace hardware (flight components and/or ground support equipment)

  • Knowledge/experience of sine/random vibration or acoustic testing of aerospace flight hardware

  • Appropriate degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with this position
