Spacecraft Modeling & Simulation Analyst

Job Summary
As the Spacecraft Modeling and Simulation Analyst you will develop new algorithms, write simulations, and analyze key performance parameters associated with advanced space and ground sensor system designs. The candidate should have demonstrated experience developing, simulating, evaluating, and presenting space and ground based system level performance analysis. This position supports our advanced concepts modeling and simulation group assisting in new business development, external proposals, mission level requirements analysis, internal R&D projects, on-orbit operations, patents, external publications, and presentations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Mission, CONOPS, Architecture & Campaign Analyses
  • Simulate, evaluate and document system level performance trades of advanced space concepts
  • Perform Spacecraft System Performance Analyses
  • Perform Physics-Based System Analyses
  • Perform Payload Capability Analyses
  • Develop novel simulation and analysis tools for mission conceptual design and analysis 
  • Transition analysis tools to flight software products as needed
  • Create, test, validate, and document models and algorithms of different sensor phenomenology’s and satellite maneuvering strategies 
  • Support existing space and ground based development efforts and operational missions
  • Manage M&S Tools & Processes
  • Support external proposals, internal research & development projects, patent applications and technical applications
  • Determine and understand impacts of space systems on Terrestrial applications particularly for scientific, military, and intelligence purposes
  • Perform military utility analysis studies with tools such as STK, Lookout, Sword, Shield, and SEAS

Qualifications:

  • At least 5-10 years of experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree or 8+ years of working experience OR an Associate's degree or 10+ years of working experience in a related field
  • Expert Level Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience with Java, C, C++, FORTRAN, Perl a plus
  • Knowledge and experience of applied mathematical modeling and algorithm development of Astrodynamics and physics based systems
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and research skills
