Job Summary As a Spacecraft Mechanisms Engineer, you will be responsible for design, build, and test of satellite mechanisms. The parts and systems you may work in this role will range from pointing mechanisms to deployable structures. Your designs will ensure that our space vehicles will perform over the course of operational lifecycles, including prototyping, test, transport, launch, and long-term operations.
Responsibilities and Duties
Perform mechanism design and configuration tasks necessary to deliver high performance satellite systems
Perform first order mechanism design trades
Identify and procure materials, processes, and facilities necessary to deliver qualified spacecraft mechanisms.
Identify and track subsystem schedule and deliverables
Develop first-order dynamic models to support design performance predictions
Support qualification testing on spacecraft mechanism systems and components including test design, test conduct, and interface equipment for unit under test
Produce part and assembly drawings to facilitate Assembly, Test, and Launch Operations
Develop and document design processes
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
Ability to design, rapid prototype, test, and implement mechanism designs for spacecraft
Demonstrate clear communication and organizational skills
1-3 years of experience with spacecraft or mechanism design
1-3 years of experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD package
Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance
3 or more years of experience with spacecraft or mechanism design
3 or more years of experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD package
Active TS/SCI Clearance
