Job Summary
As a Ground Software Infrastructure Engineer, you will support Millennium’s in-house ground software and mission control infrastructures and platforms as well as external COTS products used across the industry. You will provide a crucial interface between the mission stakeholders and the Flight Software component, and ultimately the Space Vehicle itself. You will build, integrate, and deliver complete software and hardware solutions to a variety of customers to be installed both at Millennium’s factory and at customer-owned and operated sites. You will support proposal development efforts to win new business. You will be involved with the ground development process from the start of the contract, going through design reviews, and leading up to the day of launch. After launch, you will sustain your systems throughout the life of the program, ensuring our products continue to deliver mission success.

This position's internal job code is SWE-Developer. Our team is currently hiring for level 3-4.

Responsibilities

  • Support the definition of requirements for ground software and systems
  • Interact directly with customers to ensure developed and delivered software and systems meet mission requirements
  • Build, integrate, test, and deliver large-scale ground software and mission control systems with a focus on scalability
  • Interact with other Millennium staff to support testing on components, subsystems, and spacecraft in test configurations
  • Integrate Millennium software applications into Government-furnished software and infrastructure
  • Execute integrated system test events bridging Millennium-developed products and Government-furnished systems
  • Implement specific mission data processing applications into existing systems to support payloads and end data users
  • Support ground software and systems during on-orbit activities, including launch, early operations, on-orbit test, normal operations, and end-of-life operations
  • Support proposals for new ground software and systems in support of new business efforts
  • Support software testing and installation in classified environments

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Two (2) or more years of experience designing and developing software systems
  • Demonstrated experience writing software applications in Python, including experience using package dependency management and virtual environments
  • Experience using Python webserver frameworks (e.g. Twisted, Flask, Django, Starlite)
  • Experience with employing RESTful web services in conjunction with message broker architectures
  • Demonstrated experience working with relational, document, or time-series databases
  • Comfortable communicating technical details verbally and in writing
  • Experience with iterative and agile software development approaches
  • Demonstrated experience using industry-standard version control techniques
  • Demonstrated experience developing software for cloud-based network architectures, including:
  • Software deployments and network interfaces
  • Evaluation of vendor-native vs. vendor-agnostic solutions
  • Resource optimization and cost minimization
  • Experience with unit testing, smoke tests, integration tests, and code quality metrics, including the use of static and dynamic code analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in DevOps practices, including:
  • Developing CI/CD pipelines
  • Infrastructure as Code deployments
  • Demonstrated experience developing containerized software or using container orchestration tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, Applied Math, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • Two (2) or more years of experience designing, developing and/or operating ground software and ground systems
  • Demonstrated experience in DevSecOps practices including Zero Trust technologies and practices
  • Experience writing software applications in C++ and C
  • Experience managing software development at varying classification levels
  • Active TS/SCI clearance

Summary Pay-Range

  • Level 3: $112,200 - $151,800 
  • Level 4: $130,900 - $177,100
