Job Summary You will be responsible for creating Millennium’s products and spacecraft highly safe and highly reliable for multi-year, variable orbit missions. Inform the design of next generation spacecraft products and vehicles by working with engineering teams to mitigate risk, improve performance, and reduce cost.
Job Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
Perform time dependent reliability and availability analyses for complex systems
Assist with reliability evaluation of new and existing designs
Review schematics and system architecture diagrams to identify failure modes and scenarios
Work with engineers to review and mitigate risks at the product and spacecraft level
Identify high-risk components (MTBF, FIT, etc) early in designs or in redesigns of existing products.
Use FEMCA, RBD and FTA models to develop and evaluate trade studies
Participate in the definition, development, and implementation of processes and tools needed to execute reliability, maintainability, and system health functions and engineering supportability to improve productivity, accuracy, quality, and efficiency.
Apply analytical skills to a diverse set of structured and unstructured data located in multiple databases.
Perform large volume data reduction using spreadsheets, databases, and other tools.
Communicate work with relevant internal and external stakeholders through meetings, reports and technical documentation
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, physics, or mathematics
1-2 years of experience in reliability engineering through research, internships, or commercial applications
Background in electronics or avionics and ability to read schematics
Working knowledge of statistical analysis concepts such as normal distribution, standard deviations, mean, probability, and confidence levels
Preferred Skills and Experience
Advanced degrees in engineering, physics or math
3-5 years of professional, internship, or project experience in a multidisciplinary role (i.e. engineering roles in manufacturing, integration, reliability, technical program management, or operations)
Familiar with MIL-HBK-217, ANSI/VITA 51.1 and/or NASA EEE parts standards
Familiar with common failure modes of EEE parts
Experience in launch vehicles, spacecraft or other aerospace systems and/or products
Experience with Physics of Failure
Ability to explain the above concepts to a lay-person, strong communication and presentation skills, ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment
