Spacecraft Power Engineer

Job Summary
As a Spacecraft Power Engineer, your systems will power Millennium satellites -- literally. You will:

  • Architect spacecraft power systems from cradle to grave
  • Proposal support
  • Preliminary design
  • Critical design
  • Assembly and Test Support
  • Spacecraft Environments
  • On-orbit operations

Be responsible for the following products at the subsystem level:

  • Solar arrays
  • Batteries
  • Power Conditioning & Distribution units
  • Harness

Interact with program management and customers:

  • Point of Contact for all electrical technical deliverables and issues
  • Present technical data at monthly and major customer reviews

Job responsibilities include:

  • Design, development, manufacturing support, test and operations of spacecraft power electronics, including solar arrays, maximum power point tracking, battery charge and discharge, power regulation, power switching and power distribution electronics.
  • Subsystem requirements capture, component development, board level schematic design, piece-part selection, derating, solar panel layout, harness design.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in any engineering field
  • At least 2 years with hands-on, direct experience involving board level and/or systems level design, test, and implementation of DC power system electronic hardware
  • Recent experience with one or more of: DC power regulation, battery charge management, solar power generation, DC power distribution
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with space vehicle power electronics hardware
  • Experience with solar power systems
  • Experience with high-reliability automotive or aerospace electronics
  • Experience with mitigation of space radiation effects on microelectronics
  • Experience in MATLAB
  • Experience with hardware design tools such as Altium, OrCad, Allegro, DxDesigner, or PADS.
