Job Summary As a Spacecraft Avionics Engineer you will develop avionics hardware from concept through design, layout, fabrication and checkout as well as integration, test, and verification. You will solve the unique challenges of developing high-reliability, flexible spacecraft electronics on demanding timelines while working under the mentorship of lead and senior spacecraft avionics engineers to accomplish tasks on schedule and within budget.
This position's internal job code is Electrical Design & Analysis Engineer. Our team is currently hiring for levels 1 - 2.
Responsibilities
Maximizing the operational capabilities of our unique, high-performance flight avionics hardware with attention to radiation effects and electromagnetic interference and compatibility
Design, development, test and operations of digital and analog printed circuit board assemblies (PCB / PCBA) and enclosures, including DI, DO, AI, AO, RS-422, 485, SPI, LVDS, LVCMOS, and Ethernet
Evaluate circuit card and electronic unit design, troubleshoot performance anomalies, and diagnose test failures. Develop mitigation plans and identify impacts to subsystems and spacecraft performance
Support Space vehicle design for the command and data handling subsystem including requirements, block diagrams, ICDs, analysis, technical budgets, make / buy decisions, trades, risks, development costs, performance, development schedule, and design reviews
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
1-3 years of applicable experience in Electrical and/or Software Engineering
Hands-on, direct experience with hardware design, processor bring-up
Preferred Qualifications
This position will require an active TS/SCI U.S. Citizenship. (More information on this process can be found by following the Mandatory Security Clearance and Access Process Disqualifying Criteria link which is listed in the job posting).
Verilog or VHDL code development and deployment to hardware
Experience with C/C++ development and deployment in embedded environments
Experience with hardware design tools such as Altium
Experience with embedded and/or FPGA programming
Recent experience with real-time operating systems especially variants of embedded linux
Experience with Agile development methods
Experience with flight vehicle operations as an avionics subsystem operator including in-flight anomaly resolution and component/subsystem enhancement during the flight life of the vehicle
Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only of what is reasonably expected to be paid for the position. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay-Range
Level 1: $70,550 - $103,750
Level 2: $85,850 - $126,250
