Space Architecture Systems Engineer

Job Summary

As a Space Architecture Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing space system architectures to address a range of mission types. This includes performing trade studies, system performance modeling and simulations, system CONOPS development, and cost analyses.  You will support both flight programs and business development studies and proposals.  This includes monitoring and guiding the design, implementation and verification of the overall space system. You will interact with spacecraft, ground and mission engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing mission objectives to determine system requirements
  • Creating space system concepts and architectures to meet system requirements
  • Analyzing constellations, orbits and trajectories to fulfill mission objectives
  • Integrating and analyzing electro-optical and RF systems
  • Integrating and analyzing communications systems
  • Integrating and analyzing remote sensing systems
  • Integrating and analyzing ground systems
  • Developing CONOPS and design reference missions
  • Performing mission modeling and analyses
  • Performing quantitative system trade analyses
  • Allocating and defining system requirements
  • Producing systems requirements documentation
  • Supporting proposal technical contents and products
  • Flowing down requirements from mission to spacecraft/ground elements
  • Tracking Technical Performance Metrics for systems
  • Creating and reviewing materials for design and readiness reviews
  • Tracking and resolving discrepancies during development and I&T
  • Tracking requirements verification and validation
  • Supporting mission operations

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace or other relevant engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct aerospace experience 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Skilled at aerospace proposal development
  • Demonstrated experience with detailed space systems engineering
  • Demonstrated experience with requirements analysis and flow-down
  • Demonstrated experience with design verification and validation processes
  • Demonstrated experience with configuration management to the component (box) level
  • Demonstrated experience with satellite in-orbit operations

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Aerospace or other relevant engineering discipline
  • Ten (10) years professional experience in space systems engineering
  • Modeling and simulations experience
  • Direct experience of least one full spacecraft life-cycle from concept to in-orbit operations
