Job Summary
As a mid-career Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for mechanical design and configuration of satellite structures. The parts and systems you may work on will range from spacecraft primary and secondary structure, to ground support equipment and integration accommodations, to pointing mechanisms and deployable structures. Your designs will ensure that our space vehicles survive their complete development and operational lifecycles, including prototyping, test, transport, launch, and long-term operations.
This position’s internal job code is Mech Sys Des & Anlys Engr. Our team is currently hiring for levels 3 - 5.
Job Responsibilities
Perform structural design and configuration tasks necessary to deliver high performance satellite systems
Perform first order layout and mass properties analyses
Identify and procure materials, processes, and facilities necessary to deliver a qualified spacecraft structure and components
Design and develop first-order structural models in support of mechanical design performance predictions
Support structural qualification testing on spacecraft systems and components
Produce part and assembly drawings to facilitate Assembly, Test, and Launch Operations
Prepare and deliver written and oral technical presentations to company executives and customers.
Own and report on subsystem schedule, cost, and deliverables
Develop, document, and manage required manufacturing processes
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
3 or more years of industry experience with mechanical structures
5 or more years of experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD package
Demonstrated ownership of an engineering system (i.e. requirements definition, integration, ICD development)
Demonstrate clear communication and organizational skills
Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (More information on this process can be found by following the Mandatory Security Clearance and Access Process Disqualifying Criteria link which is listed in the job posting).
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to design, develop, implement, and test mechanical systems for spacecraft
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
3 or more years of industry experience with spacecraft mechanical design
Ability to create and review drawings with GD&T per ASME-Y14.5
Active TS/SCI Clearance

Summary Pay-Range
Level 3: $102,000 - $150,000
Level 4: $124,100 - $182,500
Level 5: $146,200 - $215,000
