Job Summary As an Spacecraft Firmware Engineer, you will design and implement firmware that runs most intimately on our satellite computing hardware. You will work closely with electrical engineers, software engineers and customers across the company to deliver high quality products on a rapid development schedule.
Develop, test, and maintain firmware for custom FPGA-based avionics for space applications
Design interfaces with sensors, actuators, other avionics, and external payloads using a variety of protocols
Support system-level integration, test, and vehicle operations
Provide input for future avionics designs
Documentation and configuration management of firmware that is created
Bachelor's degree or 8+ years of working experience OR an Associate's degree or 10+ years of working experience in a related field
2+ years of experience writing firmware in Verilog or VHDL
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
2+ years of professional experience developing firmware for FPGA platforms using associated toolchains
Experience developing software for embedded systems in C or C++, or significant experience in another software language
Experience with serial protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, Spacewire)
Experience developing and testing high reliability and fault tolerant FPGA firmware
Experience with simulation, verification, and test of FPGA firmware and embedded systems
Hardware debug experience, including familiarity with tools such as the oscilloscope, logic analyzer, protocol analyzer (SPI, I2C, Ethernet or similar)
Familiar with common electronic components and comfortable reading circuit design schematics and contributing to hardware design discussions
