Satellite Flight Systems Engineer

Job Summary

As a Satellite Flight Systems Engineer, you will be the primary system interface between all bus subsystems (Power, Thermal, GNC, Structures, Propulsion) and the software teams (Firmware and Flight Software).  This position will be responsible for coordinating the flow of information from each subsystem and ensuring that all engineering changes are synchronized and accounted for at the system level, leading into development, testing, and execution of Mission Operations for the full vehicle. You will work with a diverse team of employees with a variety of focused disciplines.


  • Interface with all bus subsystems, including the hardware and software teams
  • Ensure that the design intent is met with software and hardware implementation
  • Ensure that the interface between all subsystems and the software is thoroughly tested and coordinated throughout the development life cycle, with an emphasis on Mission Operations
  • Work hand in hand with the Mission Operations team members to design, test, and execute mission operations
  • Perform ground integration activities, including software systems interfacing with subsystems, simulations, physical hardware, and/or mission simulators
  • Assist in internal company planning, proposals and business strategies. You will work with company principals to assess how we can best leverage company capabilities to provide cost effective solutions for our customers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Software or Computer Engineering
  • Experience with system test and integration
  • Experience with satellite systems
  • Experience with simple scripting
  • Experience writing operations documentation
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance required
  • Comfortable communicating technical details both verbally and in writing. Experience with various MS Office and Adobe products required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Software or Computer Engineering
  • 5 years of direct aerospace experience
  • Experience with design verification and validation processes
  • Experience with satellite bus system engineering
  • Experience with satellite command and control ground systems
  • Experience with C, C++, Java or Python; LabVIEW and MATLAB
  • Experience with CCSDS protocols 
  • Experience with iterative and agile software development
  • Experience with Linux-based development
