Job Summary As an Environmental Test Technician, you will be required to set up and execute environmental tests including vibration, shock, thermal vacuum, and thermal cycle testing. You will also work directly with the test lead to perform the environmental testing of space flight hardware.
Performs environmental tests of space flight hardware using a variety of specialized equipment, including: electrodynamic shakers, thermal vacuum chambers, and thermal cycling chambers
Installs and operates test sensors and other specialized test equipment, including: accelerometers, thermocouples, strain gauges, residual gas analyzers, thermal quartz crystal microbalances, and inclinometers
Interprets blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, assembly procedures, and test procedures
Operates various heavy equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, and large box trucks
Prepares and delivers test data, run logs, and other relevant documentation for inclusion in final test reports
Maintains environmental test lab equipment and restocks consumable lab supplies
Oversees testing at outside test facilities when required
Experience working in an Environmental Test Lab
Available to work shifted or alternate work schedule when required
Capable of setting up and operating a wide range of machining tools, including: CNC mills, CNC routers, drill presses, grinders, chop saws, power and hand tools
Ability to maintain an organized, clean workspace
Strong attention to detail
Some travel may be required
5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the aerospace industry
Experience performing EMI/EMC or Acoustic testing
Experience working in cleanrooms with ESD sensitive components
Industry certification, Trade School training, and/or Military experience
Experience working with Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Frequent standing, sitting, stopping, kneeling, crawling, and squatting is required
Able to lift up to 50lbs to transfer or move tools, parts, equipment, containers and materials
Have the ability to operate standard computer software (Microsoft office and ERP), equipment and keyboards
Able to work in normal office as well as inside and outside industrial working environments
Possess the ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
Have ability to fly on regular commercial airlines to offsite locations and launch facilities
Familiar with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include, but not limited to, filtered respirators, SCAPE (Self Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble), portable air packs, and splash suits
