Job Summary
You deliver on time and on budget. As a Space Mission Program Manager at Millennium Space Systems, you are the person who connects with the Customer, organizes internal engineering, external suppliers, manufacturing, and test activities to deliver high-performance space systems rapidly and affordably. You are accountable for delivering must-work space systems to exacting Government and Commercial customers.

Our Program Managers are responsible and accountable for on-time, on-budget delivery of their projects. They maintain project schedules, risk analysis, procurement plans, subcontract management plans, project staffing plans, and budgets (direct costs, subcontracts, travel, etc.). They report regularly to Millennium Space Systems' executive team and our customer. They track all internal and external deliverables, prepare and present formal and informal design and progress reviews. Program Managers work closely with members of their own program team, technical peer teams, and program controllers to ensure our systems meet all requirements and achieve all milestones, while staying within strict budgetary constraints.

Job Responsibilities

  • Define a robust execution plan, including risk management, to deliver results that meet the customer’s needs and drive execution according to your plan
  • Maintain fluency on the program contractual requirements, to include technical requirements, deliverables, milestones
  • Be diligent on, and document any, change requests (from the customer or supporting organizations) to ensure that appropriate scope or other contractual changes are implemented
  • Ensure weekly reconciliation of program status vs. plan
  • Lead applicable award fee and/or incentive fee activities to ensure understanding of all success criteria
  • Build and manage customer relationships, communication, and advocacy
  • Ensure program(s) meet the requirements of the contract – on time and on budget
  • Monitor and reporting to senior leadership the progress of your program(s) to meeting their success criteria as well as the progress of each functional element of your assigned product
  • Manage programmatic and technical risks – identifying potential issues and problems that could impact program performance
  • Resolve issues regarding cost and schedule
  • Establish and communicate overall program objectives, mission, vision and strategy

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical field or 8+ years of working experience 
  • 5+ years experience as a project manager with a demonstrated reputation for delivering unique, high-complexity systems
  • Proven ability to deliver on-time, on-budget
  • Demonstrated experience with rapid development projects
  • Demonstrated teamwork and written/oral communications skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences
  • Concept-to-launch experience with one or more satellite missions
  • Experience with cost- and budget- constrained space programs
  • Experience with aerospace environments other than traditional, large prime contractors
  • Experience with Intelligence Community and Department of Defense customer communities and their project management practices
