Environmental Test Engineer

Job Summary:

The Environmental Test Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing test procedures for dynamic and thermal environmental testing of components, subsystems and satellite products. They will work directly with the test lead to perform the testing on space flight hardware. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting and maintaining onsite environmental test equipment and related fixtures and support equipment
  • Fabricating, assembling, installing, repairing, testing and inspecting mechanical spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawing and specifications, and written assembly
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and correcting malfunctions of mechanical spacecraft assemblies by modification, rework, repair, and/or performing maintenance and testing
  • Performing second party verifications and visually inspecting mechanical spacecraft assemblies to drawings, engineering specifications, and written assembly integration and test procedures.
  • Setting up and operating a wide range of machine tools including but not limited to CNC Mill, CNC router, drill press, grinders, chop saw, and power and hand tools.
  • Performing routine operator maintenance functions such as daily lubrication, chip removal, and the cleaning of machines, table, and surrounding areas as required.
  • Supporting assembly, test, installation and troubleshooting of wire harnesses, chassis, and cables using source documents such as assembly procedures, schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Bonding parts and materials using various cements, adhesive compounds, and heat transfer substances
  • Route wiring and making terminations using solder, crimping, or lugging tools

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years experience or an MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 1 years experience.
  • Previous environmental test experience or exposure
  • Able to frequently stand, sit, stoop, kneel, crawl, and squat
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs to transfer or move tools, parts, equipment, containers and materials
  • Possess the ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
  • Familiar with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include, but not limited to, filtered respirators, SCAPE (Self Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble), portable air packs, and splash suits
