Ground Software Engineer

As a Ground Software Engineer, you work with COTS/GOTS as well as in-house systems to develop software that will communicate with and control a spacecraft during mission operations. This position will be responsible for all parts of the software development lifecycle: from early design, through full software and integration testing, to mission operations after launch and will interface with other internal teams such as Flight Software, RF Communications, and Systems Engineering to create software to meet the needs of the internal users.


Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another related field
  • Experience with Python, C, and C++ languages
  • Experience with Linux systems administration and management
  • Familiarity with shell scripting
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Familiarity with Databases, specifically with SQL
  • Comfortable communicating technical details both verbally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with message queues and message passing frameworks (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc)
  • Background in aerospace engineering
  • Experience with distributed system design and development (Spark, Hadoop, etc)
  • Experience with software security and information assurance
  • Experience with CCSDS protocols
  • Experience with Scala, Go
  • Experience with COTS/GOTS Telemetry, Tracking, Command (TT&C), and RF systems
  • Experience with COTS/GOTS C2 (Command and Control) software
  • Experience with cryptography hardware and algorithms
  • Experience with network design and management
  • Experience with parallel processing (multithreading/multiprocessing)
  • Experience with large-scale data processing and management systems
  • Experience with low-level communication over networks and serial devices
  • Experience with VMWare ESXi and/or Docker
