As a Mission Operations Lead Engineer, you will be working on a variety of government, commercial and IR&D funded space-related projects. Your responsibilities will span the full space mission life cycle (cradle to grave): generating operational concepts; writing requirements; task planning; operational design; integration, testing, delivering, and operating complete mission systems. Based on a particular program’s scope other responsibilities may include developing and training other contractor or customer operators to prepare for operational readiness on an existing or new system. That training will facilitate operating and maintaining both our advanced space vehicles in orbit as well as the supporting ground systems. You will be the go-to person for our irreplaceable orbiting assets, ensuring their availability to support 24/7 critical mission operations. You will develop mission operational concepts and employment plans for our various customers. Space-ground architecture requirements development will emphasize all software, networks, and material required to perform the space mission. In addition to operating satellites in orbit you will also be involved during ground testing by verifying telemetry and that test or mission objectives are met. Ground integration activities will encompass a variety of host systems including simulated and laboratory environments with interdependent software systems interfacing with subsystems, simulations, physical hardware, and/or mission simulators. As time permits, you will also be involved in internal company planning, proposals and business strategies, and working with company principals as well as customers to assess how we can best leverage company capabilities to provide cost effective solutions for the products and services they need.
