Join our small, close knit engineering team developing advanced space missions as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. Millennium Space Systems designs and develops small satellites and other unique space systems. Our Mechanical Engineers perform spacecraft design, configuration, layout, and analyses to ensure our space vehicles survive the rigors of launch and long exposure to the harsh space environment. Mechanical Engineers support the Spacecraft Development Program Manager and Chief Systems Engineer, and day-to-day, develop requirements, conduct design, analysis, qualification testing, and development through system integration, and into flight operations.
Perform basic and complex static and dynamic design and analysis to ensure a high performance structural system.
Develops and exercises structural models to calculate structural margins to support mechanical design.
Develops dynamic models to predict dynamic responses and obtain environments to support mechanical design.
Identifies and helps procure all materials, processes, and facilities to achieve a qualified spacecraft structure.
Manages structural qualification testing on spacecraft systems and components including test design, test conduct, data reduction, analysis, and reporting.
Develops and documents required design and analysis processes.
Mentors junior mechanical engineers.
Coordinates efforts with consultants when necessary.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
12+ years’ experience with spacecraft or aircraft structures design or analysis.
10+ years’ experience performing static and dynamic analyses on structures and mechanisms using FEM and other tools.
Ability to design, develop, implement, test, and operate structural, mechanical, and thermal systems for spacecraft.
Active TS/SCI clearance.
Familiarity with Solidworks.
5+ years’ experience with FEMAP/NASTRAN.
