The Millennium Space Buyer will work in Manufacturing, supporting Manufacturing, Sub-Contracts, Supplier Quality, Engineering and Program Controls to ensure Program orders are executed in an efficient manner and immediate needs are met.
Partner with internal customers (engineers) to ensure source selection and procurements that meet program requirements (schedule, cost and quality); develop second/additional sources as needed
Execute and actively manage the procurement process from RFQs to issuance of Purchase Orders, through follow up and receipt of products, and management of non-conformances and returns
Ensure procurements are processed in accordance with company policy and program expectation
Manage supplier performance by ensuring open communication, follow-up, and guidance and understanding supplier profile: capacity, heritage, logistics, etc.
Coordinate with Supplier Relationship Management and Quality team to develop and provide positive management of internal and external relationships
Assist with and support Planning/Shipping & Receiving/Inventory efforts and goals
Improve best practices for purchasing while identifying paths for formal policy and processes
Develop process and strategy such as VMI, Blanket Purchase Orders, Long-Term Agreements in partnership with Business Office and Subcontracts Teams
Develop standard purchasing reports with the software development team (Open Purchase Orders, Lead Time, Cycle Time, Program Purchase Report, etc.)
Key member of the ERP and MRP Implementation Team
Minimum 2 years related experience (Purchasing/Procurement, Commodity Management, Category Management, Expeditor, Supply Chain/Procurement Professional)
General knowledge of Terms and Conditions (T&Cs), acquisition regulations (FAR/DFAR) and awareness of export controls (ITAR/EAR)
Experience with “make” (Build-to-Print) or machines parts, COTS, outside processes, raw materials, services, drawings
